The Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination or IIT JEE is an entrance held annually. Evolution

When first held, IIT JEE entrance comprised of four subjects including an English Language paper and was later named to JEE from CEE as per the IIT Act of 1961. Keeping in mind the colossal demand of the students, the entrants from the UAE were allowed to appear for the JEE from Dubai in the year 2008. 200-220 candidates were reported to have appeared in the examination. In the same year, six new IITs came into existence with the volume of 120 seats each increasing the total number to above 96000 till date.

The New Pattern Being Introduced

The Partnership HRD ministry released an alert earlier this June relevant to the combined entry examination (JEE) to be organized in 2013. The JEE would be organized in two areas, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Only the top one lakh fifty thousand candidates, comprising all categories, of the mains, would be allowed to appear for the advanced test.
