IIT JEE 2013

About IIT JEE
The Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination or IIT JEE is an entrance held annually. It is the most reputed engineering entrance of the nation, getting through which is the dream of every aspirant longs to study in the top engineering colleges of India namely the IITs. As a result, thousands and thousands of students look for different options in the education market that can provide them with the best IIT JEE lectures.

Evolution

When first held, IIT JEE entrance comprised of four subjects including an English Language paper and was later named to JEE from CEE as per the IIT Act of 1961. Apart from the main examination, an additional screening test was introduced (2000-2005) to lessen the pressure on the Mains. It was brought into practice by allowing only 20,000 top entrants out of around 450,000 applicants (figure may vary) to appear for the exam. The major ameliorates planned in 2005 which were brought into practice from 2006 were as follows:-

§  The two-test system method was replaced with an all new single objective test.

§  The eligibility to appear in the entrance was devised to a minimum of 60% (in the qualifying exam of XII) for the general category and 55% for the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Disabled (PD) categories irrespective of the educational boards of India.

Keeping in mind the colossal demand of the students, the entrants from the UAE were allowed to appear for the JEE from Dubai in the year 2008. 200-220 candidates were reported to have appeared in the examination. In the same year, six new IITs came into existence with the volume of 120 seats each increasing the total number to above 96000 till date.

The New Pattern Being Introduced

The Partnership HRD ministry released an alert earlier this June relevant to the combined entry examination (JEE) to be organized in 2013. The JEE would be organized in two areas, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Only the top one lakh fifty thousand candidates, comprising all categories, of the mains, would be allowed to appear for the advanced test. With this new pattern being introduced, every aspirant is looking for the best JEE / AIEEE coaching so that they have all their thoughts clear on the criteria, eligibility and the exam design of the upcoming IIT JEE.
